We proudly manufacture all of our ceramic products in Northern Califonia, USA.

We use only high quality, lead-free and food-safe ceramic materials in our products.

All of Summerland's ceramic products are constructed with a cone 5 body, which means it has been hardened in a kiln at 2167°F. This clay is most commonly used for mugs and dinnerware for it's high durability. This material does fine under a regular lighter or match flame, but it could risk damage under the heat of a butane torch. We recommend using hemp wick for its low flame and to prevent the inhalation of butane gases from lighters or sulfur and woodsmoke from matches.

High quality ceramic is very similar to glass in that it gives off a "pure" smoke and does not bleed harmful and nasty tasting vapors under high heat, like many available metal options.

Ceramic glaze is actually made up of tiny beads of glass and is applied to the clay in liquid form and then melted to a nonporous finish when fired to a high temperature. Therefore, smoking from our ceramics is very similar in purity to smoking with glass.

We absolutely recommend emptying the water from your bong after every session and rinsing it with hot water. Do not leave it sitting stagnant with dirty water. This will help to prevent settling and buildup of soot and resin, and even algae growth if u nasty. Additionally, try dissolving salt into your water before use - it is thought to grab micro particles from the smoke and keep them in the water vs sticking to the inside of your piece.

Soot and resin buildup comes with the territory, but it cleans off easily using a home mixed solution of isopropyl alcohol and course salt. Commercial glass cleaners are available at smoke shops, but they are basically this same recipe. We have also had success soaking with Dr. Bronners Castile soap. We do not recommend boiling or microwaving your piece.

How to clean your bong:

  1. Remove bowl and set aside (see below). Rinse your bong thoroughly with warm water
  2. Fill the chamber with isopropyl alcohol until it is about 2/3 of the way up the downstem
  3. Add coarse salt, at least 2-3 tablespoons
  4. Put your hands over the bowl hole and mouth piece to prevent spillage, and sHaKe It uP!
  5. Let sit and soak for 5-10 minutes
  6. Repeat this process a few times
  7. Dump contents & give inside of piece a thorough wipe with a paper towel— or better yet scrub it with a bottle brush.
  8. Rinse and shake a few times with clean hot water
  9. Clean exterior with soap and a soft sponge

How to clean your bowl or pipe

  1. Clear any loose debris with a narrow pointy tool
  2. If cleaning bowl, you may remove the rubber seal by pulling it backwards
  3. Fill a bowl with isopropyl alcohol and 2-3 tablespoons of coarse salt
  4. Stir and submerge item in solution
  5. Let sit and soak for 5-10 minutes
  6. Dump all contents into a plastic bag
  7. Seal bag, including some extra air
  8. sHaKe It uP! Repeat a few times

Yes.

Our bongs feature a unique integrated downstem, which means that the tube that sucks smoke into the water is built into the base as a single, attached piece. Many common glass waterpipes use a removable downstem, but we have simplified this function.

The bowl plugs into the integrated downstem with a silicone seal, and is removable.

Yeah! We specifically designed our internal down tube and silicone grommet so that you can easily use any standard 18-19mm male accessory.

It just wont look as cool...
